Former PA. Gov. Mark Schweiker to join board of biometric technology provider VoiceVerified
NEW HOPE, PA – August 8, 2006 – Former Pa. Gov. Mark S. Schweiker has joined the board of directors of VoiceVerified, a provider of biometric verification technology and services for call/contact centers, banks, brokerages, agencies, merchants and employers.Gov. Schweiker is president and CEO of the Greater Philadelphia Chamber of Commerce (GPCC), where he has led an aggressive business advocacy and economy-building effort. Prior to joining GPCC in 2003, he served as the 44th governor of Pennsylvania, following Gov. Tom Ridge, who joined the federal government to direct homeland security efforts in October 2001.
“I have been impressed with VoiceVerified’s commitment to preventing identity fraud and protecting individual privacy,” said Gov. Schweiker. “I share the concern of millions of Americans who want the convenience of electronic financial transactions, but who worry about the security of their private information. I’m excited about VoiceVerified’s solution to these challenges and proud to be associated with it.” During his 25 years of public service, Gov. Schweiker responded to a variety of public safety threats and incidents. His leadership ability was demonstrated in the wake of the United Flight 93 crash on Sept. 11, 2001, and again 10 months later following the Quecreek mining accident. Gov. Schweiker led one of the most successful mine rescues in national history when he personally oversaw the 77-hour operation that saved the lives of nine trapped coal miners from the Quecreek Mine. Following the rescue, he implemented a series of new safety procedures to provide better protection for miners. Gov. Schweiker brings a wealth of security experience, insight and passion to his work with VoiceVerified. “We are thrilled to have the support and expertise of an outstanding public servant and business leader like Mark Schweiker,” said Jeffrey D. Randol, founder and CEO of VoiceVerified. “We know his experience, reputation and sound judgment will add much to our organization.” Before entering public service, Gov. Schweiker worked for Merrill Lynch and McGraw Hill and operated his own management consultancy. He lives in Bucks County, Pa., with his wife, Kathy, and their three children.
